Decoding the counselling process and listing the top engineering colleges that accept JEE Main scores for admission
The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2023 results are out, with as many as 43 candidates securing the 100 percentile. To gain admission to engineering colleges, candidates must clear the exam and adhere to each college’s admission criteria. Students must have passed or appeared in the 12th class examination in 2021 or 2022 from a recognized board of education and secured at least 75 per cent marks (65 per cent for reserved categories) to be eligible for JEE Main 2023.
JEE Main Counselling Process
Counselling for admissions to IITs, NITs, and IIITs is conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) and the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB). JoSAA conducts counselling for IIT admissions and also for NIT, IIIT, and other institutions. CSAB, on the other hand, provides counselling for excess seats in the NIT+ system.

Key Factors to Consider While Choosing a College
While selecting an engineering college, candidates should consider the following factors:
- Accreditation and Affiliation: Ensure that the college is accredited by a recognized authority, such as the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) or the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
- Placement Records: Research the college’s placement records to get an idea of the opportunities available after graduation.
- Faculty: The quality of education largely depends on the faculty members. Investigate the credentials and experience of the teaching staff.
- Infrastructure: A well-equipped campus with modern facilities and resources, such as libraries, laboratories, and hostels, is essential for a holistic learning experience.
- Location: Consider the location of the college as it impacts the overall living experience, accessibility, and networking opportunities.
- Alumni Network: A strong alumni network can provide valuable insights, resources, and connections for future career growth.
- Extra-Curricular Activities: Look for colleges that offer opportunities for overall personality development through clubs, sports, and cultural events.
- Fee Structure and Financial Aid: Evaluate the fee structure and financial aid options to make an informed decision based on your financial situation.
