Uber-Amazon Strategic Partnership Upscales Travel Benefits for Prime Members

A continued collaboration aims to provide enhanced travel experiences, digital savings, and cashless commuting options for Amazon Prime subscribers in India.

In a move set to redefine customer-centric convenience in the Indian commuting sector, Uber and Amazon announced Monday the extension of their strategic partnership. The fresh alignment brings forth an exciting proposition for Amazon Prime members, allowing them access to additional benefits across all of Uber’s modes of transport.

The new offering rolled out in May 2023 promises Amazon Prime members a 5 per cent cashback on all Uber rides when Amazon Pay is utilised as the payment method. In addition, users will earn a 1 per cent Amazon Pay cashback, thus encouraging digital transactions and cashless commuting.

The Uber-Amazon Prime Nexus: An Overview

This synergistic collaboration between the two global giants is not new to the Indian market. In 2022, Uber and Amazon worked together to offer Prime members the luxury of UberPremier at the cost of UberGo, with up to three upgrades per month.

Furthermore, Prime subscribers were able to avail of a 20 per cent discount or up to Rs 60 on up to three trips per month across various Uber services, including Uber Auto, Moto, Rentals, and Intercity.

The expanded partnership, however, looks to take this relationship to new heights. It focuses on a seamless travel experience that brings the power of cashless transactions, added rewards, and digital convenience to Amazon Prime subscribers in India.

A Joint Vision for Enhanced Customer Experience

Uber and Amazon’s partnership reflects a mutual commitment to redefining customer experience, providing a seamless commute experience for Prime members while ensuring digital savings. Prime members can avail of these benefits by linking their Amazon Pay wallet to Uber, which empowers them to manage their travel and finances in a streamlined manner.

Nitish Bhushan, Director of Central Operations, Uber India & South Asia, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, “As we continue our strategic partnership with Amazon, we are thrilled to offer even more value to Amazon Prime customers through Uber.

Our joint vision is to provide a truly seamless and differentiated experience for our customers…Our continued collaboration with Amazon highlights our commitment to delivering value and innovation to our customers.”

Abhinav Agarwal, Director – Prime, Amazon India, echoed Bhushan’s sentiments, emphasising the benefits for the Prime members, “We strive to elevate the daily experiences of our members and help them enjoy the power of Prime. With commute being one of the most important aspects of our daily lives, we are thrilled about this association with Uber which will enable Prime members to save even more every day.”

This collaboration looks promising for customers who regularly utilise Uber’s services, marking a shift towards a more integrated and rewarding commuting experience.
